flagrant: applies usually to offenses or errors so bad that they can neither escape notice nor be condoned: ~ abuse of the office of president.   condone容忍纵容to pass over an offense and allow it to continue，如a society that condones alcohol but not drugs一个容忍酒精但不纵容毒品的社会      如a flagrant violation of the law公然触犯法律

  
glaring: implies painful or damaging obtrusiveness of something that is conspicuously wrong, faulty, or improper: ~ errors in judgment.  （conspicuous明显的不可能看不到的=obvious，如the conspicuous waste of money明显的浪费钱财，conspicuous red hair/place显眼的红头发/地方） 又如a glaring error/omission /inconsistency/injustice明显的错误/疏漏/不一致/不公正


egregious: is applicable to something that stands out by reason of its bad quality or because it is in poor taste: made an ~ error.     e+greg出了人群，即stand out坏到出格、不寻常        如egregious abuses of copyright恶劣到出格的侵犯版权行为


gross: implies the exceeding of reasonable or excusable limits of badness as applied to attitudes, qualities, or faults: ~ carelessness on your part.  又如a gross mistake严重错误, gross violation of sovereignty/human rights严重侵犯主权/人权


rank: applies to what is openly and extremely objectionable or utterly condemned: it's ~ heresy to say that.      an example of rank stupidity极端愚蠢的例子


flagrant公然行恶: 指罪恶昭彰(escape notice掩藏)，不能容忍，glaring错误明显(刺眼): 指错误明显得刺眼，egregious错误出格: 指错误出格不寻常，gross错误严重: 指越过可以原谅的界线，rank恶劣: 指公然让人厌恶和谴责


记忆方法: 1）首字母FGEGR想成GRE犯规<==性质恶劣         恶从心亚声，广韵: 不善也，《通论》有心而恶谓之恶，无心而恶谓之过。可能和"亚"表示较差、次一等有关。有2 意思  1、不好甚至极坏。如恶感恶果恶劣恶名丑恶恶毒邪恶恶贯满盈   2、凶狠，如恶霸恶棍险恶凶恶邪恶     "劣"会意。从力从少。本义:弱小，如劣势劣等低劣下劣优劣。引申为坏，恶，即恶劣       "坏"是形声字，从土褱（ huái）声。古代建筑物主要以土建造，故从土。本义：倒塌（建筑物遭到破坏），现表示 1、受损伤，如破坏败坏摔坏  2、品质恶劣，如坏蛋坏人坏事坏毛病习惯
